HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!

Smile because he Lived
You can shed tears that he is gone,or you can smile because he lived,
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see him,
or you can be full of the love that you shared,
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember him and only that he is gone,
or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn back,
or you can do what he would want:
Smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

This was another poem I was going to have someone read. We do have a lot to be thankful for....the wonderful family this man is responsible for....though it was Mom that took us to Sunday School and church, Dad provided for us as he worked from morning to night. Thank you all for the wonderful tribute we gave him last Monday....Thank you Dave for being the "getter"...for giving him a break from those long days in the nursing home...Thank you Jacinda, for bringing a smile to his face and many other residents and staff each week...Thank you Janet for being the pill keeper and taking him to so many appointments....Thank you Mike for giving him peace in his last hours....Thank you Patty for keeping him in your thoughts....I know you wanted to be here more, but distance makes it hard....Thank you, Thank you Nancy....for so many wonderful memories recorded and preserved for us, for our children, and our children's children. Thank you all, for the many stories we heard as people came to pay their respects. The Log Cabin was truly a unique place. Thank you Jerry....for giving it a new life.

Happy Birthday, Dad...rest in peace.

ah, susie...i'm in tears all over again.

And thank you, Sister SUSIE, (of the 11 checkbooks) for being the first number on the call list, the teller, decider, goer, getter, maker, doer, and gather-er of chicks and chickens. Dad probably never said it...and probably never even knew how much you did for him...but we saw it and are so thankful for all you did for him and do for us.

Sister Susie, the Angel. I'm sure that Dad had a good idea of all that you did for him.

Thank You for caring and giving all that you did.
